Vintage SPY Stylophot Private Eye Miniature Camera (Nori /Color)
{black/color} with a pocket clip on the side  from the Kimac Co. of Old Greenwich, Conn., USA. It comes with a manual..
The Stylophot was introduced in the mid fifties as a  subminiature camera that produces approx 18, 10x10mm images on 16mm film. This plastic camera measures approx 5" tall X 1

" wide, X 1

" deep without a lens hood. The mechanics of the camera appear very well done. Two models of the Stylophot were marketed in America. One was called the Kimac “Private Eye” and the other “The Detective.” The Stylophots  were produced from 1956-1970. This was my grandfather’s and he was the only owner and user of this camera. It has been in safe keeping all this time since he died in the early 1990s.
Includes the instruction pamphlet of sorts. The distribution company in the US was The Kimac Company, Old Greenwich Conn. I do not have a way to test this but i did open it up and take photos of the inside. It still contains the canisters that hold the film inside and a length of film. Interior seems very clean.

The Stylophot made by Secam in France but distributed by Kimac Co in the USA, is similar in shape to a vintage style fountain pen  with a  pocket clip for one’s breast pocket  so it is handy and ready to use quickly.  The designer of the Stylophot and many other cameras was Fritz Kaftanski. During WWI, he worked for Deutsches Heer, analyzing the photos of aerial reconnaissance in Berlin. In 1927, he married ,and started Fotofex Kameras with financial help from his father in law. In 1934, Fritz began SIDA GmbH in Berlin.  He escaped Germany  and moved to Czechoslovakia, where he started the SIDA-FEX camera company. In 1945, he moved to France, where he was involved with FEX-INDO ,Kafka and SECAM in 1955, which is when  he designed/made the Stylophot camera.
