VEF Minox Riga camera with impeccable provenance serial number 15604.

Description

In this auction you will be bidding on a Riga Minox camera made in Latvia between 1941 and 1943. This camera is part of a group of cameras that was hidden in the walls of the Minox factory to keep the Germans from getting them. Camera serial number is 15604 and is the lowest serial number documented from this group. Camera is in an unfinished state with its original factory box. these boxes housed the un finished cameras as they moved through the factory to each station until they were completed . This camera was loaned to Hubert E Heckmann for his book Minox variations in 8x11. It is pictured in color plate 2 of the book and is in the far left upper corner of the picture. This picture also shows other cameras in various states of completion from the group found inside the factory wall.
