Tomy-Sears Fully Working Grippidee Gravidee Deluxe Set 1971 Vintage Rocket Space

Description

For auction: Sears Deluxe Grippidee Gravidee Set circa 1971-72. This complete set is in Excellent to Near Mint overall condition except for the box. Most importantly both vehicles are fully operational and climb, travel upside down, and descend vertical track layouts as intended. I recommend using only new AA batteries instead of the C size normally called for in each vehicle to help reduce the weight and therefore stress on the gear boxes and increase the life of the toy.
The Space Plane is unique to this one set (you can't find it anywhere else), and is in excellent condition overall with a working rear propeller as shown in the video link below.
I have included foam peanuts to use inside the Space Plane battery compartment alongside both AA batteries and also on top to help secure the smaller size batteries during operation.
The Apollo 2001 Capsule is also in excellent condition overall. The inside Spaceman which moves in and out of the capsule depending on where it is on a vertical layout, can be removed to install the smaller AA batteries. The batteries fit tight so you won't need any foam inserts for support.

The majority of the track pieces are in near mint and fully functional condition with all end connectors intact and with tight locking tabs. Only two exceptions:
1. The yellow cross-intersection track piece is missing one of the stop-hooks that keeps the vehicle in place when it's spinning - see photo detail with red circle. The other stop-hook operates fine and so under most circumstances you won't really notice the missing part during operation. 2. The red antenna tower has one small tab broken off but doesn't affect how it connects to the tower legs nor can it be seen since the tabs are embedded into the legs once assembled.
The box shows a lot of wear with stains
and tears
, old tape and areas of missing graphics where the tape used to be. I reinforced parts of the box top and bottom with archival acid free transparent tape to help keep it structurally secure. Despite these faults the color is good with no fading. Please carefully review the photos for overall condition.
