Milton Bradley Star Bird Avenger - Custom - Defender Class

Description

The Defender-class Star Bird is a Special Operations vessel designed to provide close quarters protective cover space station and planetary bases. The Rear Boosters have been upgraded with state-of-the-art components to handle more aggressive in-theatre maneuvering. The Booster modernization was precipitated by the replacement of the Rotating Turret Gun with a High-Density Plasma Cannon.
The Defender is a customization built on an Avenger airframe. For some reason I had purchased a number of Avengers without Rotating Turrets. Keeping the original retaining rings, I replaced the ball with a riser made from a replacement fitting for a water hose. I then pushed a sheetrock anchor in the small end which served as a receiver for the replacement gun. The gun itself is from a GI Joe figure, though I'm not sure which one.
The Retaining Ring is original as are all of the other parts except the Boosters, which are replicas. The riser doesn't fit exactly in the Rotating Turret array, but caps from water bottles fit beneath it to create a joint that allows the entire assembly to move allowing the gun to point in any direction.
